Privacy policy

DeepDharma (thedeepdharma.com) is made by GinWorks, Ahmedabad, India. We collect only what we need to run the app and to make it better, we ask before we collect anything about how you use it, and we never sell your data or show ads.

Who is responsible

GinWorks, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India is responsible for your data (the "data fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). Contact and grievance officer: Manthan Jha, admin@gin-works.com.

What stays on your device

Your settings (language, place, calendar, text size), saved birth profiles (name, date, time and place of birth) and reading bookmarks are kept in your browser on this device. They are not sent to us unless you use a service that needs them, such as a personal reading. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.

Your account

If you create an account we keep your email address, your name (if you give it), a protected form of your password (never the password itself), or your Google account email and name if you sign in with Google. We use them only to log you in, keep your coins and purchases, and send you messages about your account.

Coins, purchases and readings

We keep a record of every coin you buy, receive or use, what you unlocked, and the readings and answers you asked for, so you can open them again and so we can fix mistakes and give refunds. Payments, when they start, are handled by the payment company; we never see or keep your card or bank details.

Questions and personal readings

When you use Ask, Explain or a personal reading, your question and the chart or verse details needed to answer it are processed by our service and by the text-processing providers we use (currently Google, Groq and Cloudflare). Your name and email are not sent to them. Please do not type private details such as health, money or ID numbers into questions.

Visitor statistics (with your consent)

When you first open DeepDharma we ask whether we may count your visits. If you say yes, we record which pages are opened, which features are used, the kind of device and browser, your approximate region (from the network, not your exact location), the page you came from, and a random visitor number stored in your browser. This tells us what helps people, so we can improve it. We do not use outside advertising or tracking companies for this; the statistics stay in our own system.

If you say no, we record nothing about your visits except a plain page count with no visitor number and no device details. You can change your choice at any time in Settings, under "Privacy". Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.

Your location

Your location is read only when you press "Use my location", and only to work out sunrise and other times for that place. It is not stored on our servers.

Cookies and browser storage

We use one login cookie (only when you log in) and your browser's storage for your settings and your statistics choice. We do not use advertising cookies.

How long we keep data

Account, coin and purchase records: while your account is open, and up to 8 years after for tax and accounting law. Visitor statistics: 13 months, then deleted or kept only as totals. Service logs: 90 days. When you delete your account we remove your personal details, keeping only what the law asks us to keep.

Where data is stored

Our service runs on Cloudflare's network, which stores and serves data from data centres in India and other countries. We use providers that protect data with industry-standard security.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it or your account, withdraw any consent, and nominate a person to act for you. Write to admin@gin-works.com from your account email. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

DeepDharma is not meant for children under 18 to use on their own. A parent or guardian should create and manage the account.

What we never do

We never sell, rent or trade your data. We do not show ads. We do not build profiles to sell to others.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for important changes we will tell you in the app.
